The Accountant
Importance and function of an opening sequenceTarget Audience and how to attract them:
The target audience is a very important aspect when creating a film or even just an opening sequence. This is because without a target audience the producers and directors of the film will find it difficult to specify who they want to present the film to and what type of film they are going to make. This is because they cannot make a horror film with their target audience as children since it would not be successful as it is not suited in that age range where as if they were to have the target audience of people from the ages 18-35 the film would be a lot more popular as they will be able to make the film as scary as they like without any consequences.
I have looked at the website 'YouGov'. The is a website which allows you to search up pretty much any film from any genre, in this case i was searching up Thriller films as this is my chosen genre. We are able to look at the profile of the type of person who would watch a Thriller film. In this case I had looked at the film Inception and was given back huge amounts of information which had ranged between where they stand with their own political views and then all the way to their age and what type of food they like. In this case the profile showed us that the overall majority of people who watched and liked the film Inception were aged from 25-39 and that they were quite left winged in their political statement. Furthermore it also says that the majority of people who watched the film were male, this may be because of the stereotypical fact that men are more into films which contain a lot of action (which Inception does) and that women are more interested and drawn into films which contain more of a meaningful story and sometimes love. Another thing that YouGov also includes is that people who are a fan of the film have a favourite dish's of Salt and pepper chicken,Quesadilla, Burritos...etc. Why is this helpful? Yougov enables you to get an idea of what kind of people are into/like the genre that you have chosen, this then allows you to be very precise in who your target audience is and in this case since my target audience is of a fairly high age of 25-39 this means that my group and I will be able to create a opening sequence which could contain scenes of violence, where as if our target audience was for children of a young age we would have to make sure that it is very friendly and doesn't contain any vulgar language or violent scenes. Location Visit
From our location visit we were able to really visualize the types of shots and different angles we had previously discussed and were also able to find out what types of limitations or concerns we had for shooting in certain areas of the house. For example you can see that in one of the images above it shows the layout of the bathroom, now not only is it fairly small due to the placements of objects inside it but there is also a concern of the fact that shower has a glass door which is creating a reflection which if we were to film inside the bathroom it would mean that we would have to be vary careful in how and where we position the camera and film that scene as we would need to make sure that both the filming equipment and the members in our group who are using the camera and not acting are out of sight and are not revealed by the reflection.

I was very happy with how our pitch turned out. Although it says the pitch was by Matt Dayman (a member of my group) each member including myself created specific slides such as i had the task of getting information about the lighting and sound that we shall be using within our opening sequence.
Company Ident/Logo
Still Image:Animation:
We had originally started off with having our company called midnight films but had then decided to change our name to "BLOODMOON FILMS" as we looked at the actual blood moon which can happen. We started off our ident with the image of the moon which Matt Dayman who is a member of our group had took himself then we went on to decide where we should put the positioning of the text and as you can see we positioned it so it is going diagonally across the flat side of the moon.
Sound
In the end after re-viewing the two pieces of music we had decided to go for the ticking clock music as we feel that it will create a better effect.
CastLightingBehind the ScenesRough Cut of our Opening Sequence
This video is a rough cut of our opening sequence as it does not contain our company ident, credits and the non-diegetic sound that will be put in for our final piece. I feel that by incorporating these specific things it will help our opening sequence grow and turn it into something more interesting, this especially relates to the diegetic sound. On top of this part of the song "Run Rabbit Run" is played from a cd playing in Ben's room but luckily we are still able to use it as that song had been released around 77 years ago and the length of how long copyrighted music lasts for in the UK is 70 years so we are able to use it since the song is no longer copyrighted.
Rough cut version 2
For the next two video clips Matt and I will be talking about the text which is used in the two opening sequences of Se7en and NERVE. Then the third video is a comparison between the first two film opening sequences.
